Beautiful Brighton

Since coming back to Brighton for the start of the new term, I have really noticed how beautiful Brighton is, especially at moments like the one below - the sunset. 

This week the sky has been wonderful colours as I've walked home, but I was unable to capture them. So, in consequence I have started this personal project of documenting the beauty of Brighton. 

First up, this gif of Brighton Pier, with murmurations of Starlings flying overhead.

Let There Be Light.

These are a few of my final selection of images from our two week "Let There Be Light" project. I really focused on looking at the different colours and patterns I could make using bokeh as my main subject. These photographs are actually street lights on the promenade, with the occasional green being a traffic light. Zoomed in with a 300mm telephoto lens and turned completely out of focus, this is the result!

I created these images using a selection of abstracted images of artificial and natural light. I started to play around with colouring and layers and I realised the results were not unlike magnified images in a petri dish, hence the reasoning for the circular crop.

The unnatural colours makes them unrecognisable as actual objects, and even with captions it is quite hard to tell.

Death In Anticipation.

These photos were taken as part of the "Ways of Seeing" project at college. My project went in the direction of looking at the glamorisation of smoking in the media.

The end result was a zine that combined the glamorous images of people smoking, alongside various smoking statistics and stages of lung cancer. 

The Natural History Museum, London. A Place of Wonder.

I'm a bit of a photography nerd, and taking pictures in the Natural History Museum was such a lot of fun! I was pleasantly surprised how lovely these came out, the colours of them- especially as they are film- are very nostalgic to me of my trips here with my grandparents years and years ago.

Butterflies symbolise both life and death. Hope and fragility.
